Leigh Vardanega is an abstract artist living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Her work is inspired by travel memories, tropical destinations, and the bush and coastal environment that surround her home.
She is drawn to the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi where one finds beauty in things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. Leigh works in many layers of paint and glaze, often scratching and sanding back the surface to recreate the patina of an aged weathered surface.
Leigh’s paintings are a celebration of her love of colour, texture and pattern and above all she aims to evoke joy and inspire an appreciation of the natural world.
Coastal Addiction has collaborated with Leigh to create beautiful limited-edition cushions with her signature Sol Palms design in two different covers. Leigh has been recently named “one of 40 Australian artists to watch” by Home Beautiful magazine and has an instantly recognisable style of coastal art - we are privileged to work together on this exciting project.
