How to create your imperfectly perfect bed
Create your imperfectly perfect bed in your coastal home (although doesn’t have to be near the coast!) and remember it’s all about the layers 🤍
1. Go with good quality cotton and pure linen bedding. Thankfully it doesn’t have to be expensive these days - Kmart sells some beautiful linen bedding (and don’t worry about ironing, looks so much better when wrinkled)
2. Mix up the textures with a few crocheted or hand stitched cushions and woollen throws for comfort and style
3. Add pops of muted colours with earthy tones, chocolate, soft blues and clay and combine with lighter creams, whites and beiges for a mix-n-match look
4. Add a doona cover of your choice and fold the flat sheet loosely back over the top of the doona
5. Use linen pillow cases in pairs of king, standard and some decorative square cushions or a lumbar on the front … Add them randomly to the bed on angles, softly crumpled, perfect for lounging around…
5. Gently shake and ripple the doona to create a lived-in and slightly messy look
6. Layer then bed with loosely draped throws and cozy cushions… the combination of all the layers is what brings it all together
7. Grab a cuppa and your fave book and hop back into bed… 🫶
Footnote - still love this gorgeous French antique gate bedhead bought many years ago from my beautiful friend Sam @twogirlsandacontainer … if you’re a mid-century furniture lover, Sammy is the lady to go to.
Nikki x
